Description
We started our project one week after Katrina hit. Activities included extensive chain sawing to remove trees that had damaged homes, then installing tarpaulin to make the roofs secure and the homes habitable. We removed destroyed possessions from hundreds of homes, then gutted them (down to the studs) and did mold removal so that rebuilding could commence.
We provided extensive support to Coastal Family Health Centers, including building an emergency clinic, and providing substantial support for their grant application that completely funded a new headquarters and major clinic.
We turned over our facility to the Hands On Network affiliate, newly formed Hands On Gulf Coast.
